Bargaining Update - September 17, 2014
The WETA Bargaining Team and the District met today to discuss the new online teacher evaluation system. (TalentEd).
Some of the concerns were evaluation confidentiality, database security, and potential changes to the evaluation language. Access to the database will be limited to the head of Human Resources, the HR Administrative Secretary, and the acting Site Administrator. The evaluation language will remain the same.
WETA was satisfied with the Districts explanation and use of the online teacher evaluation system. We agreed to continue to pilot the process for this school year. Teachers will have the option of choosing between the traditional evaluation or the new online system.
The teachers will later vote to ratify the online evaluation system pilot as part of the regular ratification process.

Bargaining Update - May 2014
When we started negotiations in September we were unsure about the state budget, which may have included additional cuts in funding. With the passage of Prop 30 in November the state was able to allocate more money to schools, now with the new funding source, districts and the county are still trying to determine the allocation of funds for districts.
Current funding allows for the restoration of the 3.5% salary reduction, but the May budget number won't be out until May 15th so we are opting to wait to negotiate further until we have an accurate idea of how much money the district will be receiving.
WETA and the District already have tentative agreements in the following areas:
* Minimum Day Scheduling
* Hourly Rate
* Psychologist and Speech Salary Schedule
* Classroom Size Reduction Language
* MOU for Progressive Discipline renewal
* Inclusion of Domestic Partnership language
* Counselor positions at the Middle Schools
We will have a general meeting at Dexter Middle School on Thursday, May 15th at 3:30pm to discuss the details of the tentative agreements.

Bargaining Update - September 25, 2013
The WETA Bargaining Team and the District met today to discuss restoration timelines and budget updates. We are looking towards January for the Governor's budget update to determine any other compensations for this year and beyond.
Bargaining Update - August 21, 2013
The WETA Bargaining Team and the District met today to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the Common Core Lead Positions. We realized a teacher's first and foremost responsibility is to their classroom and that the time dedicated to these lead positions outside of the contractual work hours be respected. As a result each lead position will receive a $1000 stipend, in addition, work done outside of the contractual hour will be eligible for the hourly rate.
The District agreed that the majority of the responsibilities of each lead position should not impact their primary teaching duties. The District will be releasing a description of the roles and responsibilities of each lead position.
